Quand l’arrogance israélienne rencontre l’honneur arabe

Lorsque les actions des voisins ont pour motif l’honneur, au lieu des intérêts, avec l’arrogance d’Israël, on appelle cela « l’honneur Arabe ».

On ne peut qu’espérer que le premier ministre ne demandera pas à son adjoint Moshe Ya’alon, de régler la dispute avec l’Egypte dans le sillage de l’incident au sud. La doctrine des relations internationales selon Ya’alon, d’après la quelle « l’honneur est atout nationale », le Caire doit être envoyé en enfer. Tout comme dans la question du refus de présenter des excuses aux Turcs. De bout et en marche dans la direction du rabaissement des relations avec le plus grand pays arabe va sans doute accroitre le prestige d’Israël à Washington, Londres et Paris et va dissuader Damas et Téhéran. Quand les actions des voisins ont pour motif l’honneur, au lieu des intérêts, avec l’arrogance d’Israël, on appelle cela « l’honneur Arabe ».

La rencontre entre le prestige de l’Egypte et l’arrogance du gouvernement israélien avait déclenché le grand incendie d’Octobre 1973. L’honneur de l’Egypte nécessita d’effacer l’insulte perte de la péninsule du Sinaï, et puis l’arrogance du Premier ministre d’Israël Golda Meir lui a fermé les oreilles aux signaux de paix du défunt Président Egyptien Anouar Sadat. Les milliers de victimes qu’avait exigées cette guerre n’ont pas réussi à guérir les Israéliens de la malédiction de l’arrogance. Elle élève son nez si haut, qu’elle bloque la vue des alentours – cela jusque à la prochaine violente confrontation.

La protestation de centaines d’Egyptiens qui entourent l’ambassade d’Israël au Caire n’est pas née durant cette derrière semaine. Pendant des décennies, ils ont vu des colons Juifs voler des terres qui appartenaient aux Arabes, avec la permission et la bénédiction du gouvernement d’Israël. Durant ces années, les commentateurs Arabes rappelaient les lecteurs de journaux dans les pays arabes que les israéliens ont trompé les Egyptiens à Camp David, en ignorants le chapitre palestinien des les accords. Le ministre des affaires étrangères Avigdor Lieberman menace de révoquer les accords d’Oslo. C’est une merveille qu’il ne menace pas de révoquer les accords de paix avec l’Egypte.

Il ya deux semaines, les téléspectateurs d'Al Jazeera ont regardé le président-adjoint de la Knesset Danny Danon, du parti au pouvoir en Israël, déclarer le droit du peuple Juif à l'ensemble de la terre d'Israël, et de Judée et Samarie (la Cisjordanie) en particulier. Danon, qui a été introduit par son titre de président du Likoud mondial, a affirmé que l'idée de deux Etats à l'ouest du Jourdain est une absurdité totale.

Le week-end dernier, les Arabes ont appris que Danon, Lieberman et compagnie ne sont pas seuls. Avec une onde d'arrogance, le membre de la Knesset Shelly Yachimovich, qui est en lice pour la couronne du Parti travailliste, a accordé un certificat social-démocrate de la cacherout (le code alimentaire prescrit aux enfants d'Israël dans la Bible hébraïque, NDT) dans les colonies et leurs produits. Les jeunes collègues parmi les révolutionnaires sociaux de Rothschild Square, qui réclament la justice sociale, ne montre aucun au manque épouvantable de justice envers les voisins Palestiniens.

Et ce n’est tout. Ce mercredi (hier, NDT), des personnalités publiques Israéliennes participeront à une manifestation de soutien à Israël, animé par Glenn Beck, le prédicateur et animateur radio Américain, qui a récemment déclaré que la Jordanie est la Palestine. L'événement, bien sûr, aura lieu avec une audience massive et avec des équipes de télévision à Jérusalem-Est, au pied du mont du Temple/Mosquée Al Aqsa.

Les ministres, parmi lesquels le vice-Premier ministre Ya’alon, et les membres de la Knesset, parmi eux MK (membre de la Knesset, NDT) Anat Wilf d’Atzmaut, jusqu'à récemment membre du Parti travailliste, aux côtés du kahaniste (de l’extrême-droite(1)) MK Michael Ben Ari (Union nationale) ont fait la queue pour se faire photographier avec l’extrémiste animateur radio qui est l'un des plus grands ennemis et haïsseurs du président américain Barack Obama(2).

Ils ont de qui apprendre. Tout récemment, le Premier ministre Benyamin Netanyahu a affiché tant d’arrogance depuis le podium de la Chambre des représentants envers le locataire (à très court terme, selon lui) de la Maison-Blanche. La rencontre entre l’arrogance d’Israël (et sa sœur, l’euphorie) et la politique malhonnête du Président Egyptien renversé Moubarak le conflit israélo-palestinien a facilité le maintien des relations avec l’Egypte, comme s’il n’y avait pas de territoires occupés, et le maintien de l’occupation, comme s’il n’y avait pas d’Accords de Camp David.

Le canal entre le Caire et Jérusalem est resté ouvert même après que Netanyahou, dans son arrogance, a désigné comme son ministre des Affaires étrangères un homme politique qui détient le brevet de la proposition de bombarder le barrage d'Assouan. Par crainte de la réaction de l'États-Unis que le nouveau gouvernement égyptien ait gardé l'ambassadeur égyptien à Tel-Aviv – pour l'instant.

Cette fois, l’arrogance israélienne se heurte à l’honneur de la rue arabe, qui est en train de renverser l’ancien ordre. Quand ils regarderont à la télévision des soldats israéliens combattants des enfants arabes au lendemain de l’annonce de la reconnaissance d’un Etat Palestinien aux Nations Unis, les dissidents en Egypte, en Tunisie, en Jordanie, en Syrie et en Libye ne resteront pas face à la télévision, cassant des graines de tournesol. J’espère avoir tort.

When Israeli arrogance meets Arab honor

When the neighbors' actions are motivated by honor, rather than by their interests, with Israeli arrogance, we call this 'Arab honor.'

One can only hope that the prime minister will not ask his deputy, Moshe Ya'alon, to settle the dispute with Egypt in the wake of the incident in the south. According to Ya'alon's doctrine of international relations, under which "honor is a national asset," Cairo should be consigned to hell. Just as in the matter of the refusal to apologize to the Turks, standing tall and marching in the direction of lowering the level of diplomatic relations with the largest Arab country will without a doubt raise Israel's prestige in Washington and in Paris, and will deter Damascus and Tehran. When the neighbors' actions are motivated by honor, rather than by their interests, with Israeli arrogance, we call this "Arab honor."

The encounter between the Egyptians' prestige and the Israeli leadership's arrogance ignited the big blaze in October 1973. Egypt's honor required erasing the insult of the loss of the Sinai Peninsula, and then Israeli Prime Minister Golda Meir's arrogance shut her ears to the peace signals from the late Egyptian President, Anwar Sadat. The thousands of victims exacted by that war did not succeed in curing the Israelis of the curse of arrogance. It sticks its nose up so high that it blocks the view around the corner - until the next violent clash.

The protest by the hundreds of Egyptians who are surrounding the Israeli Embassy in Cairo was not born during this past week. For decades, they have been watching Jewish settlers stealing lands that belong to Arabs, with the permission and the blessing of the government of Israel. All these years, the Arab commentators have been reminding the newspaper readers in the Arab countries that the Israelis deceived the Egyptians at Camp David in ignoring the Palestinian chapter in the agreement. Foreign Minister Avigdor Lieberman is threatening to revoke the Oslo agreement. It is a wonder he is not threatening to revoke the peace agreement with Egypt.

Two weeks ago, viewers of Al Jazeera watched Deputy Knesset Speaker Danny Danon, of the ruling party in Israel, declare the Jewish people's right to all of the land of Israel, and to Judea and Samaria (the West Bank ) in particular. Danon, who was introduced by his title of World Likud Chairman, asserted that the idea of two states to the west of the Jordan River was utter nonsense.

On the weekend, the Arabs learned that Danon, Lieberman and company are not alone. With a wave of arrogance, MK Shelly Yachimovich, who is vying for the Labor Party crown, granted a social-democratic certificate of kashrut to the settlements and their products. The young colleagues among the social revolutionaries of Rothschild Square, who are demanding social justice, are not evincing interest in the appalling lack of justice towards the Palestinian neighbors.

And this is not all. On Wednesday Israeli public figures will participate in a demonstration of support for Israel, moderated by Glenn Beck, the American preacher-broadcaster who recently declared that Jordan is Palestine. The event, of course, will take place with a mass audience and with television crews in East Jerusalem at the foot of the Temple Mount / Al Aqsa Mosque.

Cabinet ministers, among them Deputy Prime Minister Ya'alon, and Knesset members, among them MK Anat Wilf of Atzmaut, until lately of the Labor Party, alongside Kahanist MK Michael Ben Ari (National Union ) have stood in line to have their pictures taken in the company of the extremist broadcaster who is one of the biggest haters of U.S. President Barack Obama.

They have from whom to learn. Just a short time ago, Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu gave a display from the podium of the House of Representatives of arrogance towards the (short-term, in his opinion) tenant of the White House. The encounter between Israeli arrogance (and its sister, euphoria ) and ousted Egyptian President Hosni Mubarak's duplicitous policy regarding the Israeli-Palestinian conflict facilitated maintaining relations with Egypt, as though there were no occupation in the territories, and maintaining the occupation as though there were no Camp David agreement.

The channel between Cairo and Jerusalem remained open even after Netanyahu, in his arrogance, appointed as his foreign minister a politician who holds the patent on the proposal to bomb the Aswan Dam. The new Egyptian government's fear of the reaction by the United State has kept the Egyptian ambassador in Tel Aviv - for now.

This time, the Israeli arrogance is encountering the honor of an Arab street that is undermining the old order. When they see on television Israeli soldiers fighting Arab children on the day after the declaration of a Palestinian state in the UN, the dissidents in Egypt, Tunisia, Jordan, Syria and Libya will not be cracking sunflower seeds in front of the television. I hope I will be proven wrong.
